U.S. Inert MKIIA1 Fragmentation Grenade & Container

This is MKIIA1 fragmentation grenade which is more commonly referred to as the "Pineapple Grenade", due to its resemblance to the said fruit. This example has an olive drab painted body which was introduced in mid-1942. Pineapple grenades prior to 1942 where painted yellow. The Yellow band just under the fuze identifies the item as an explosive device. Due to the quantities produced during WW2. The grenade continue to be used during Korea and the Veitnam Wars.
