U.S. M1956 2nd Pattern Field Pack

This is a good example of an M1956 2nd field pack, more commonly referred too as the "Butt Pack" due to its position when being worn. The 2nd pattern is also known as the M1961 field pack, by collectors due to its introduction date. The 2nd pattern differs from the 1st pattern by having a weatherproof neck seal , where the 1st pattern has fold-over flap side extensions which where considered less effective in keeping personal items dry. The 2nd pattern field pack was also slightly larger. This example is dated 1962.
