Czech Irish Contract MK1 Bren Gun ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

For sale to customers outside the European Union. This is one of the rarest examples of a MK1 Bren gun which exists. A Czechoslovakian made MK1 for the Irish Army. The contract was placed by the Irish government in 1937 with under 300 being produced which where all proofed by Birmingham Small Arms on behalf of the Irish government before final delivery. It is actually estimated under 200 where actually delivered. The Czech made Irish Bren gun has minor differences compared to the British counterparts. The Irish examples have a side loop for the sling and a slightly different shape to the rear of the left side of the receiver. The bottom of the butt also has a different fitting to accommodate ground foot support. This example has a nice clear Birmingham Small Arms proof mark and was later used as a training aid as its stamped "DP" for Drill Purpose. The barrel and receiver are dated 1937. A unique opportunity to for any serious Bren gun collector to own a very rare version of the MK1 Bren Gun. For Non EU Sales Only. However can be re-deactivated to the current EU specification.
