German Mouse Grey Reversible Parka
This is mouse grey reversible parka which was the first pattern parka worn both by the army and the Waffen-SS and was introduced in the winter of 1942/43 as a result of the bitter experiences of the previous winter of 1941/2. When thousands of German troops fighting on the Eastern Front suffered from the extremely cold temperatures. This example has had a number of period repairs. The mouse grey colour has faded. It retains it's internal waist belt and hood drawstring. The button flap is stamped with the makers name and place of manufacturer "Stettin" ( Szczein ) which is now in modern Poland.
