German MP40 Submachine Gun. ( Pre-EU/UK Deactivation )

One of the most iconic submachine guns of WW2 The German MP40 Submachine gun. This example is in very good condition. It is deactivated before October 1995 and has a full moving action. This MP40 is not matching numbered and is made of two guns. The lower half is dated 1940 and is maker marked "122" for C.G.Haenel. The upper half also dates from 1940 has the smooth magazine housing which is not ribbed. More commonly known as slab sided. The ribbed magazine housing was introduced in 1941. This example does have a unusual cocking handle probably a field modification as early MP40's had the same cocking handle as the MP38 which was hooked. The safety switch on the cocking handle was introduced in 1941 and some early MP40's where retro-fitted with the new cocking handle, with addition of a notch to the slot on the receiver where the cocking handle goes back and forth. This example does not have the notch modification. The upper half is maker marked "bnz" Steyr-Daimler Puch AG. The magazine is dated 1941 and has the makers code "98e" for Steyr-Daimler Puch AG.
