South African MKII Helmet

A nice example of a South African MKII helmet retaining its original desert paint scheme, which has a ruff textured finish. The rear of the visor has three small holes which allowed a cotton neck protector to be attached protecting the wear from sunburn. The MK1 liner is maker marked Jager Rand and dated 1942. Jager Rand only produced liners from 1940 to 1942.  read more

This is in fact a World War One era MK1 brodie helmet which was refurbished for the British army in 1938. The shell is in very good condition with a refurbishment date of 1938. This is a 1944 dated Despatch riders helmet, which is size stamped 7 and maker marked 'BMB' for Briggs Motor Bodies. The helmet is in good condition retaining nearly all of its original finish the leather is still soft and supple and has not suffered with any tares or rips.
