This is in fact a WW2 vintage M1 helmet which was period refurbished for use in Vietnam. This example is front seamed with a stainless steel rime which signifies the date of manufacture is between October 1943 to October 1944. In November 1944 the rim was replaced with manganese. An extremely nice example of a front seam swivel bale M1 helmet, which would have been produced between October 1943 to November 1944. The helmet retains its original finish and has its unit formation badge on the front of the 29th Infantry Division. The inside of the shell has a visible heat number. U.S. M1 Helmet Liner

This is a third pattern line for the r M1 helmet produced by Capac Manufacturing Company. However this example has the formation badge in the form of the Letter D within a triangle which is the symbol used by the 39th Infantry Division which formed in 1917, disbanded in 1923 and reformed in 1946. The happy horse unit badge is unknown.  read more

U.S. M4A2 Flak Helmet

A very good example of a M4A2 flak helmet, which was introduced in June 1944 and was designed for use by Bomber crews. It was smaller and more compact than the M3 flak helmet and more suitable for wear in confined spaces such as ball turret. This example retains its contract label which gives the manufacturers name Industrial Canvas Prod. Corp. The chinstrap appears to have been shortened.  read more
