French M15 Souvenir Helmet

This is a French M15 helmet which was given to WW1 French army veterans who saw action during the Great War. The brass plate with the inscription "Soldat De La Grande Guerre 1914-1918" ( Solder of the Great War ) has been riveted to the visor. This is a late-war U.S. Navy M1 helmet, which would have been produced between November 1944 to August 1945. Rear seamed manganese rim, and olive drab No7 shade chinstraps. The helmet would have originally been issued in green to the Navy, who overpainted them either blue or battleship grey.
