This is a a British made MK1 type B helmet with the rubber doughnut ring in the liner which was introduced in 1917. The British made helmets are identified by the split pin to the chinstrap suspension loops, where the U.S. M1917 are riveted. British Despatch Riders Helmet

This is a 1944 dated despatch riders helmet, retaining most of its original finish. The liner is in good condition however the chinstrap has been cut to a shorter length and the the lace is missing from the back to either reduce the enlarge the liners fit. The liner is also maker marked "BMB" for Briggs Motor Bodies and is size stamped 6.1/2. However the internal ear flaps have worn away.  read more
